Anyone try the new Grab pickup service at Suvarnabhumi that just started? Are there baggage fees?

It was showing Grab rates were slightly higher for both official pickup points than I normally pay for a taxi to my condo even with the 50 Baht surcharge charged by taxis.

There were an awful lot of people at the main Grab pickup point standing around looking like they had been waiting for their pickup while the taxi kiosks had no lines so I just opted for the regular taxi.

I havent ruled out taking Grab in the future. I didn't have any large bags but seems like that might tip the scales in Grabs favor if there is no charge for bags with Grab.

Anyone know if Grab at the airport is charging the same baggage fees as the taxis?

When all was said and done and with only a backpack I saved a whopping 40 Baht by not taking a Grab.

honestly the 40 baht difference is nothing in the grand scheme of things but what people dont talk about is the grab drivers who cancel on you at suvarnabhumi. i've had three in a row cancel after i already walked to the pickup point because they saw the wait to get into the airport loop and decided it wasn't worth it. the taxi queue is just more reliable even if you're paying an extra 20 baht per bag. if you're heading to somewhere like sathorn or silom where the expressway toll is gonna be 70 baht anyway, the bag fee is basically noise

yeah theres no baggage fee with grab, its just the base fare plus whatever surge. but honestly the wait is the real killer, ive stood there for 25 mins before watching taxis roll by every 10 seconds. if youve got big bags or its late at night just do the taxi queue, grab only makes sense if youre tryna avoid the taxi mafia vibe or youve got a promo code

The baggage fee thing with Grab at Suvarnabhumi is actually pretty straightforward. Grab doesn't charge extra for bags like the taxi mafia does with their 20 baht per bag nonsense. But honestly, the real issue with Grab at the airport is the wait time. I've seen people waiting 20-30 minutes for a Grab to navigate through that pickup zone while taxis are rolling through every 30 seconds.

The 40 baht you saved is about what you'd spend on a coffee at the airport anyway. If you're traveling light and don't mind waiting, Grab is fine. But for anything more than a carry-on, I'd just do the taxi queue and pay the bag fees. The taxi guys at the kiosk are usually pretty straightforward about the total cost upfront now, so there's no surprise when you get to your condo.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao has been my go-to for Isaan food around On Nut for years. Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
