Just wanted to check for recommendations on excellent yet affordable dermatology clinics in the metro. I have few dark scars that I wanted to get rid of.

TIA for your recos.

honestly for dark scars in bangkok, i'd skip the big hospital chains and head to a skin clinic like Yoskarn on Sukhumvit 39. they do laser and chemical peels for way less than what you'd pay at Bumrungrad, and the doctors actually specialize in pigmentation issues. i think their Pico laser starts around 3,000-4,000 baht per session depending on the area, which is decent for the quality. just make sure you book ahead online since they're popular with locals too.

another option nobody's mentioned is the skin department at samitivej sukhumvit. it's a hospital but their derm clinic is separate and priced more like a private clinic than the big international hospitals. i've been there for a few rounds of microneedling for some old acne scars and it was around 2,500 per session. the doctor actually took time to explain why my scars were so stubborn instead of just pushing the most expensive laser on me.

if you're around silom, there's also a small place called Dr. Num Clinic near sala daeng bts. they do a lot of chemical peels for pigmentation and it's like 800-1,000 baht per session. it's not fancy at all but the doctor's been around forever and knows her stuff. just know they don't take cards so bring cash.

ngl if u want something more budget-friendly than Yoskarn, check out Dr. Tony Clinic near Ari BTS. they do good fractional laser for scars starting around 2,000 baht a pop and the wait isn't as long since they have multiple branches around town. the doctors there are pretty straightforward too, not trying to upsell u on unnecessary packages. just a heads up that the Ari branch gets packed on weekends so try a weekday afternoon instead

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
