Posted here and not thai tourism because the question is about experience with AIS.

I'm leaving for Seoul for a week, and just wanted to know: when ya'll go to other asian countries, have you found it better to ask your cell phone company for international data, or do you prefer buying a SIM card every time you land?

I'm asking because my last trip home (maybe expensive because it's America) AIS made me pay like 1k or something for international data.

I'm wondering if this time around, I should just buy a SIM card in Korea. Can anyone share any advice on which is cheaper?

Thanks

fwiw i tried the esim route last time i went to japan and it was way smoother than swapping physical sims. no fumbling with tiny trays in the airport. airalo or nomad esim are like 300-400 baht for a week in korea, way less than what AIS charges for roaming. just make sure your phone is unlocked first.

also if u land at incheon they have those sim vending machines near the baggage claim. i think it was like 30,000 won for 7 days unlimited data when i checked last year. either option beats paying AIS 1k baht for sure

honestly you could just google this instead of making a post. yeah AIS overcharges like hell for roaming, 1k baht for a week in america is a ripoff. just grab a local sim at incheon airport when u land, itll cost like 500 won

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
