Hi all,

I'll be in Bangkok taking some summer courses online. I'd like to not stay in my apartment the entire time I am studying, so do you know any good public places to study? I was thinking more like a co-working place or a large hall with tables open to the public, but if you know of quieter spots that would also be appreciated.

Thanks all for your time in advance!

For something a bit different, check out the TCDC (Thailand Creative and Design Center) at the Grand Postal Building in Charoenkrung. It has a massive resource library with study tables that feel more like a museum reading room, and membership is only 100 baht for a day or 600 for the year. The cafe downstairs sells decent coffee and pastries if you need a break, and the building itself has a lot of history. Just remember to bring headphones because the main hall can echo a little.

The National Library of Thailand on Samsen Road is a solid option if you want a proper quiet study space. It's free to enter, just bring your ID and register at the front desk, and they have a decent air-conditioned reading room with plenty of tables. The hours are a bit limited though, they close at 7pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends, so it's not great for late-night cramming.

For a more modern vibe, AIS D.C. in the Ekkamai area is worth checking out. It's technically a co-working space run by the telecom company, but the first few hours are free if you're just there to use wifi and a table. It can get busy in the afternoons with students and freelancers, so I'd aim to get there before 10am if you want a good spot near an outlet.

If you're near Sathorn, HUBBA on Sathorn Soi 10 is a solid bet. It's a proper coworking space with reliable wifi and power outlets everywhere, and they do day passes for around 300 baht. For something less formal, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre near Siam has a few benches and a small cafe on the upper floors that stay pretty quiet during weekday mornings. Just avoid the weekend crowds there.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
