I'd take the rental advice from the others one step further and look at a serviced apartment in Phra Khanong. Places like The Residence on Sukhumvit 71 run about 9-12k baht monthly including cleaning and wifi that's actually fiber, not shared hostel bandwidth. The BTS is a five minute walk and you've got W District market right there for cheap food and a coworking space called Hubba that's 200 baht for a day pass if you need a change of scenery. For two months the price difference from a hostel is marginal and you get your own fridge and no one snoring above you.

For two months in Bangkok with a quiet work focus, I'd look at the area around Ari or Saphan Khwai. You get the BTS green line for quick downtown access but the neighborhood is much more laid back, with plenty of cafes and local eateries. Check out the Hive Bangkok or Tamni Hostel, they both have coworking spaces built in and enforce a no-party policy, plus the wifi is solid enough for video calls. You'll pay a bit more than the party hostels on Khao San, maybe 300-500 baht a night for a dorm, but for two months the quiet and reliability are worth it.

ngl for 2 months i'd look at a guesthouse in the banglamphu area but not on khao san itself. theres a spot called old phra athit guesthouse that does monthly rates around 5-6k for a private room with a fan, wifi is decent enough and the neighborhood is all old school cafes and river views. you're a 10 min walk to the golden mount temple which is super chill for morning walks and the bts is a 15 min ferry ride away if you need to get to silom or sukhmvit. hostels are fine but having your own space for that long makes a difference, even if its just a fan room with a cold shower

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
