Any good places for massage for women? Single female travelling with a friend in Bangkok..looking for massage services in safe parlour..any suggestions?

if u want something a bit more upscale and quiet, check out Oasis Spa, they've got a branch near Phrom Phong BTS, the atmosphere is really zen and the oil massages are amazing. it's pricier, think 1,500+ baht, but worth it if u want a proper treat. also the one at Ari, called RarinJinda, is a hidden gem, small but super professional, they do this hot stone thing that's killer. for the local vibe, Soi 33 is okay but i'd say walk a bit further to Soi 49, there's a row of shops with older ladies who actually know what they're doing, just look for ones with lots of thai customers, that's ur safest bet. avoid anyone who tries to upsell u weird stuff at the door, a normal place just asks if u want oil or traditional

both replies nailed the big chains tbh, but for a first timer i'd say go to a place called Asia Herb Association, they have a few branches around Sukhumvit, the one near Phrom Phong is my fave. their signature is the thai herbal ball massage, it's like a warm compress thing that smells amazing and helps with sore muscles, around 600-800 baht for 60 mins. they're super female friendly, no sketchy stuff, and the staff are all women, so u won't feel weird at all. also if u're near the river, there's a small spot called Ruen Nuad in the old town, it's in a wooden house with fans, not fancy but the ladies have been doing this for decades. just be ready for a no frills vibe, no AC, but the massage is honestly better than any mall spa i've tried. and yeah, tip 50-100 baht if u liked it, they don't expect it but it's appreciated.

honestly skip the tourist spots on Khao San, they'll rush you and charge triple. head to a place like Health Land, they have branches in Asok and Ekkamai, super clean and professional, you can book ahead online. prices are fair, around 400-600 baht for a decent Thai massage, and the therapists are trained properly. another solid option is Let's Relax, they have a few branches near BTS stations, the one at Thong Lo is chill and you can add a herbal compress session after. both are safe, no weird vibes, and you can just walk in but booking is smarter since they fill up fast. for something more local, try the small shops on Sukhumvit Soi 33, but check the place looks tidy and the staff are older, that's usually a good sign.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
