Have y'all ever notice that the Davis building near Rama 4 road always have people taking pictures in front the buildings Starbucks where the fake phone booth is? Of course it's normal for people to take picture but like its weirdly too many for an old building? It's usually the young adult crowd sometime graduates taking their academic gown photo there. Every time I drove past it there would be a few people posing and taking photos.

My question is that does anybody know the significant of it? I have no ill will I am just genuinely curious.

tl;dr Why are there so many people taking photos with the Davis Bangkok building????

honestly it's not just the building itself, it's the lighting. that whole stretch along Rama 4 gets this golden hour glow around 4-5pm because the sun hits the white facade just right, no harsh shadows. plus the davis has that weird little alleyway on the side with the old wooden doors and vines, most people miss it but it's actually a better spot than the phone booth. the gown thing is partly convenience too, it's right near the Asok BTS so parents can just hop off and walk over, no need to haul gear across the city

It's basically become a rite of passage for students around here. Chula and Thammasat have been using it for grad photos for years, but it's spread by word of mouth now. The white facade catches the light in a way that makes phone cameras look way better than they should, so people don't even need a real photographer to get a decent shot. The phone booth thing is just a bonus, it gives people something to do with their hands so they don't stand there awkwardly.

haha yeah i think part of it is just that the davis has this weird old bangkok charm that feels really intentional for photos, like that lobby area with the dark wood and the spiral staircase gives off a totally different vibe than the outside, so people get two looks in one spot. and the security guards there are used to it by now so they don't shoo anyone away, which makes it an easy spot to linger

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
