It seems I am spending my easter holidays in Bangkok alone and would like to get drunk. However I really dislike loud clubs and bars with too many people in them.

So any recommendadions on chill and less crowded drinking holes, like tiny pubs with good selection of drinks, would be highly appreciated. Usually my drink of choice is strong beer or whisky-based drinks.

if you're staying around silom there's a few hidden bars on the smaller sois that most tourists miss. soi 4 has a couple of proper old school spots where the drinks are cheap and the crowd is mostly expats reading books. the whiskey selection is decent and they'll have singha or chang on tap. way quieter than anything on sukhumvit.

another option is the area around on nut bts, walk down soi 81 and you'll find some local-style bars with plastic tables and good vibes. they're not fancy but the whisky sodas are like 60 baht and nobody's gonna bother you. perfect for a solo session.

check out the foreigner bars on sukhumvit soi 11 or soi 22, they're usually pretty chill and not packed unless it's a friday night. jools bar on soi 22 is a solid bet for whiskey and beer, tiny spot with a good vibe

honestly skip the sukhumvit area entirely if you want quiet. head over to banglamphu, not the khao san road madness but the side sois off rambuttri. there's a few tiny bars tucked away that are basically just a counter on the sidewalk with plastic stools, super cheap whiskey sodas and the local archa beer. way more chill than anything near a bts station

if you're up for a bit of a wander the rooftop at the old phra athit road area has a couple of guesthouse bars that are dead quiet on weeknights. good place to watch the river traffic with a jack and coke. just don't go near any place with a dj or a sign in english that says "party"

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
