Has anyone recently eaten at Mark Weins' restaurant on Sukhumvit road? I'm curious to know if the hype is worth it 😊

Anytime I search best spots to get Pad Kra Pao in Bangkok, his place always comes up as one of the top places to try so it's got my curiosity piqued since I'll b there early April 🍲 Anytime I search best spots to get Pad Kra Pao in Bangkok, his place always comes up as one of the top places to try so it's got my curiosity piqued since I'll b there early April 🍲

ngl i went there last month and it's decent but overpriced for what it is. 120 baht for pad kra pao when u can get just as good at places like khua kling pak sod down the street for 60. the crispy pork belly version is their standout though, way better than the chicken. if u really want to try it go on a weekday afternoon around 3 when there's no line

honestly the hype is mostly around mark's brand more than the food itself. his pad kra pao is decent but it's like 120 baht which is steep for street food level quality. if you're set on going just go early like 11am before the lunch rush hits, the soi 11 location gets packed fast.

for a better version without the wait try pad kra pao petch at samrong market, it's a bit of a hike but only 50 baht and they use actual holy basil not the regular kind. also the egg is always perfectly runny there.

fwiw i went about a month ago and it's decent but the queue management is a mess. they give u a buzzer and you're just standing on the sidewalk for 20 mins which is annoying in the heat. the pad kra pao itself is fine, good wok hei but nothing i'd rave about. my hot take is if you're already on Sukhumvit for the food crawl just hit up the food court at Terminal 21 instead, the one on the 5th floor called Pier 21 has a stall that does a solid version for like 50 baht with a fried egg and the AC is way better.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
