Best rooftop bar with good food for solo traveller?
honestly for solo with good food i'd go to the rooftop at the scarlet hotel on charoen krung. it's called the red sky bar but the one at the scarlet has a way better menu for the price, their som tam with salted egg is legit and you can sit at the counter and chat with the bartenders. the view is over the river not the skyline but it's quieter and the food's actually cooked well, not just tourist bait. get there by 5:30 and you'll catch the sunset without fighting for a seat
moon bar at lebua is the obvious one but honestly the food is overpriced and the crowd can be a bit much for solo imo. try octave at the marriott sukhumvit, it's got a more chill vibe and the sushi there is actually decent for the price. sky view on the 65th floor at banyan tree is also solid if you want a proper dinner, their thai set menu is worth the money and the view is less touristy than lebua. just go early around 6 to grab a spot at the bar and you'll be fine
tbh i'd skip the super fancy ones and hit up the rooftop at the pradee lounge, it's attached to a hotel but way less crowded and the cocktails are legit. the food's more small plates than a full meal tho so grab a bite before if ur hungry
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
