Best place to buy fishing gear / equipment?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

if you're after tackle for saltwater specifically, try the shops around bangkok's fishing pier near pak nam, about 30-40 mins south. they cater to the gulf crowd and have better jigging gear than most rama 4 places. bring cash, some of the smaller stalls don't take cards and it's a pain to find an atm nearby

the best selection i've found is at the weekend floating market in ratchaburi, about an hour outside bangkok. it's a pain to get to but there's a guy there who imports daiwa stuff direct from japan and sells it for half what you'd pay in the malls. otherwise check out the shop on sukhumvit soi 101/1, it's tucked behind a 7-eleven and they stock good quality jdm rods that you won't find anywhere else in the city

imo the best hidden gem is the weekend market area around chatuchak but not inside the main market. there's a side soi off kamphaeng phet 2 road with a few independent tackle shops that also sell secondhand reels for cheap. the owners are old school thai fishermen who'll tell u where the fish are biting in the chaophraya if u buy a few lures. prices are negotiable, esp if u buy multiple items

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
