honestly skip the street stalls on khao san, they'll give u a fade that looks like a helmet. walk down to tan's barber on rambuttri soi 2, it's a tiny shop tucked behind the hostel row. old thai guy runs it solo, 200 baht and he'll do a proper scissor cut or a clean fade, just show him a pic on ur phone. he opens around 10am but can be random with hours, so maybe peek in first

Khao San is a bit of a gamble for haircuts, the places right on the street are mostly for tourists who don't care much. Walk over to Banglamphu Tailor on Phra Athit Road, they have a proper barber chair in the back and the guy there knows what he's doing with scissors, not just a number 2 buzz. It's about 300 baht for a cut and you'll actually look decent after.

if you're up for a bit of a walk, head to soi nana in chinatown, about 20 mins by taxi or a solid walk. there's a spot called "the barber" on the main drag, no sign in english really, just the thai letters and a spinning pole. the guy there does a solid classic cut with a straight razor finish for 250 baht. he's been at it for like 30 years, so he's seen every head shape. just bring a photo or be ready to describe what you want in simple terms.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
