The info is in English however I can find any info on whether the musicals itself will be in English or in Korean?

If they are in Korean, is it still worth going?

Chicago and Hadestown are both in Korean here, full cast Korean. For Chicago it's less of a problem since the plot is straightforward and the songs are iconic enough you'll know what's happening. Hadestown is trickier because the storytelling is more poetic and relies on the lyrics a lot.

I'd say if you know the original soundtrack well, go anyway. The production quality at Charlotte Theater (where Hadestown is) is top notch and the set design is impressive even without understanding every word. Tickets run about 80,000 won for decent seats. Just don't expect the English experience you'd get in the West End.

honestly you'd be surprised how much you can follow even without the language if you know the story already. for hadestown specifically the charlotte theater does have those little subtitle screens on the seat backs, i think they're in english too but i'm not 100% sure, been a while since i was there. the real draw for both shows is the staging and the orchestras, korean musicals put a lot into their live bands and the arrangement quality is often better than some touring productions i've seen abroad. if you're a theater person you'll appreciate the craft regardless. just book ahead, the good seats sell out fast especially for weekend shows

Both shows are performed entirely in Korean, no English dialogue or songs. For Chicago, you'll be fine if you've seen the movie or know the broad story since it's mostly vignettes and big dance numbers. Hadestown is a different beast, the lyricism and wordplay are central to the experience and that gets lost in translation.

If you're a big musical fan, Charlotte Theater for Hadestown is worth it just for the staging, it's a gorgeous venue with a rotating stage. They do offer Korean subtitles for the songs on small screens but that's distracting. I'd say go if you're curious about Korean theater production values, skip if you need the full emotional impact of the original lyrics.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
