550 is roughly the going rate for foreigners now, prices jumped the last couple years so that tracks. the Muhammad Ali mosque is included in the main ticket, no separate fee. bring small bills for the shoe minders at the door

the el nasr mosque inside is a separate small fee i think, or at least it was last time i went. also the military museum costs extra if u care about that. shoe minders tip is real, keep some 5 or 10 egp notes handy

el nasr was included when i went in october, guard waved me through with the main ticket. the military museum bit is true though, that one's a separate gate fee

also carry ur student id if u have one, foreign student rate is way cheaper than 550

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah and the police museum next door is free

Best way to meet people in Cairo 2026?

Are there regular meetups, clubs, or classes near the Salah El Din Citadel area where a newcomer can show up weekly and actually get to know people? Any suggestions for someone starting from zero there?

try looking up classes at a nearby club or gym in el moez area, something weekly beats random meetups

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Weekly is the key part, agreed. Worth noting El Moez Street is a good 20 to 30 minute walk from the Citadel itself, so if you're set on that area look at ahwas and sports clubs in El Khalifa or Sayeda Zeinab instead. Same idea, shorter commute.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah the metro ride makes that walk a nonstarter

Ahwa Al Horreya on Mohamed Ezz El Arab, evenings.

Fair point on the club angle, though the Cairo Capital Club and the Gezira clubs need memberships or sponsors, so check waiting lists before you count on it.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

sporting club in maadi, much shorter waitlist

Language exchange nights at places like Diwan or Sawy Culturewheel are underrated for meeting ppl regularly, ngl.
