honestly the citadel ticket usually covers the mosques too, no separate one last I checked. I think it ran around 450 EGP for foreigners recently but 2026 rates could differ. pay at teh window, not touts.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The 450 EGP figure is roughly right for the Citadel itself, and the mosques inside (Muhammad Ali, Al-Nasir Muhammad) are included. Some sources list closer to 500 now, so budget a bit more. Buy at the ticket window, not from anyone outside.

Cash queue moves faster than card, fwiw.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Yeah no separate mosque ticket, though the police museum inside sometimes needs a small extra fee of its own.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Police museum fee is a few pounds extra and honestly skippable unless you're into old uniforms. The real draw is the view from the Muhammad Ali terrace over the city.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Al-Aqmar and Al-Azhar are outside the walls anyway, so no combo ticket covers them. Inside, the military museum building is free with the main entry; only the little side halls ask extra.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Foreigner rate is card-only now at the gate, and students with ISIC get roughly half off, so bring it if u qualify.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Card readers do fail there sometimes, so keep enough cash as backup even if they prefer card.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

isic card needs to be valid, expired ones get turned away

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

worth adding that the discount only applies at the main window, so don't let anyone steer u to a side entrance. also double check the expiry month not just the year, they do look

Can anyone recommend a good dermatologist around there, and roughly what a consultation costs if I'm paying cash? Also, do most clinics take international insurance or should I expect to pay upfront and claim it back?
arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

Cash upfront, claim back later.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah & keep every receipt, they nitpick

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Most places want cash but a few in Heliopolis bill international insurance directly, so ask before booking.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

true, ask specifically about direct billing before u book

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

worth asking for the exact clinic name too, some insurers only cover the bigger hospitals. and get the invoice stamped with the doctor's license number or the claim gets bounced.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

good to know, i'll email ahead & ask. some clinics also want a pre approval number before u even walk in so check that too

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

direct billing usually only applies to the big hospital clinics, the small private practices almost never do it

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

al nasr rd is long so it depends which end. i'd look around heliopolis hospital or the clinics off abbas el akkad, more choice there. consultation runs 300 to 600 egp roughly, more for the big names.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

abbas el akkad side is where the good ones cluster

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

nasr city end near the district office has a couple of decent derm clinics too, quieter than the hospital queue
