Nice guide, covers the basics well. One thing I'd add is that the public buses to Yangshuo are fine, but the shared minivan from the bus station is actually more comfortable and only 5 CNY more. I made that mistake once on a hot day and regretted it.
The free viewpoint tip is good, but I'd specifically recommend going to the top of the Banyan Lake pagoda complex around sunset. It's free to enter the grounds and you get a killer view of the Sun and Moon Pagodas lighting up without paying the 35 CNY for Diecai Hill. The light show they mention starts around 7:30 PM and runs about 20 minutes, best watched from the small bridge near the Sheraton Hotel.
the guide's right about the free view of elephant trunk hill from the opposite bank, but most people miss the spot. go to the small pavilion on the south side of the river, just past the twin pagodas. there's a little path down to the water where locals fish and you can see the whole rock formation without the crowds or the ticket price.
also, for the rice noodle tip, the best time to hit those street stalls is before 9am. my favorite spot on wenhua road runs out of the good broth by 10 and switches to a weaker version for the lunch crowd. the 5 cny bowl at 8am is a totally different experience from the same price at noon
Solid breakdown, covers the essentials without the fluff. One thing that's saved me a ton is the free water refill stations at most of the smaller parks like Ronghu Lake. You'll see locals filling up at these little taps near the restrooms, saves buying plastic bottles at 3-4 CNY each from the venders.
Also, if you're doing the Yangshuo bus thing, the 25 CNY minibus drops you at the main square but the local bus 1 from there goes right to West Street for 1 CNY. The taxi drivers at the square will try to charge you 15-20 for that same 5 minute ride. Learnt that the hard way my first trip.

this is a really thorough breakdown, nice work. i'd add that the area around diecai mountain is worth considering if you want to be near zhengyang but not right in the chaos. there's a cluster of budget hotels on diecai road that are maybe a ten minute walk to the pedestrian street but way quieter at night. the mountain itself has a killer sunrise view and you can climb it before the crowds show up. plus the river walk along the li river from there to elephant trunk hill is a solid 25 minute stroll that beats fighting through the shopping streets
honestly this guide is pretty solid but one area it misses is the area around Ronghu Lake specifically. i stayed at a little guesthouse on ronghu south road last spring and it was way more chill than the main zhengyang strip but still walkable to everything. the lakeside path at sunset is gorgeous and theres a hidden noodle spot on wenming road that does the best luosifen for like 12 kuai. prob not for first timers who want nonstop action but if you want a local vibe without the station noise it's perfect
