Lidl's Weirdest Find?

Question

So I was in my usual Lidl, the one near the Brandenburg Gate, grabbing groceries. You know, the usual Tuesday night madness. Anyway, I found this jar of pickled something...it looked like tiny, bright green gherkins, but the label was completely in Klingon. No joke. I bought it, obviously. The cashier just shrugged. Anyone else ever seen this? What the heck was it?

I've seen some wild stuff at that Lidl, but never Klingon. If the cashier shrugged, it's probably just a regular pickle with a misprint from a promo. I'd crack it open and taste one if you're brave.

That Lidl gets some genuinely odd stock. I've seen frozen whole sea buckthorn berries there once and a jar of something labeled "Grünkern" that looked like hamster bedding. The Klingon label is a new one though. My money is on a misprinted label from a limited international week run, probably meant for a Polish or Turkish import that got mixed up.

The April Fools promo theory is solid, I remember that week. They also had "Vulcan" brand olive oil and some Romulan ale-looking sparkling water. If it's actually Klingon text and not just a gimmick font, check the bottom of the jar for a tiny import sticker, those usually have the real product name in German. The one near Brandenburger Tor definitely gets overstock from the bigger Friedrichstraße store, so mismatched shipments happen all the time.

tbh the Klingon label is prob just a leftover from Lidl's April Fools promo a couple years back. they did a whole "alien invasion" themed week with weird packaging for normal items. if it's bright green and tiny they're just cornichons, pretty standard french style pickles. i grabbed a jar during that promo and they tasted like regular pickles, just with a funny label. your cashier's shrug tracks, they prob saw hundreds of those things that week

imo the "world of flavors" thing is a good guess but my bet is on a limited Aldi collab gone wrong - those two stores share suppliers sometimes and stuff gets mixed up. the one by brandenburg gate gets tourist stock dumped on it too, i've seen weird souvenir-tier jams there before. if it's bright green and tiny it's prob cornichons with a novelty label, they're tangy and fine on a cheese plate. crack it open and report back, worst case u have a funny story and a jar of vinegar
