I'm visiting Nurnberg for the first time in 2026 and want to try proper Franconian beer rather than the tourist spots around the Hauptmarkt. Any recommendations for good bars, maybe in the Altstadt or near the Burg? I'd rather have somewhere locals actually drink than a place with an English menu out front.

Barfüßer on Hallplatz, Tuesday nights.

Try Altstadthof on Bergstrasse, they brew their own Rotbier in-house and it's mostly locals, not tour groups.
