Any recommendations for good beer spots or small pubs in the Altstadt or Gostenhof? Also curious if there's a decent cocktail place or two worth checking out.

For proper Franconian beer in Gostenhof, try the taproom at Brauerei Ledermüller on Fürther Strasse, though hours are limited. Schanzenbräu's own bar near the Johannisstrasse is solid too. Cocktails: Gelbes Haus does good ones without the Hauptmarkt markup.

Good picks. I'd add that the Schanzenbräu bar gets packed on weekends, so going early evening is smarter. Also check out the smaller Kellerbier spots around St. Johannis if you want somewhere quieter.

Agreed on all three. The one thing I'd add is hours: many of the smaller pubs close early or take a Ruhetag midweek, so check before you trek out. March is quiet enough that you probably won't need a booking though.

Kleinbrauerei Altstadthof near the castle does a nice rotbier and its own whisky, worth a look.

Which hospitals or clinics would you recommend for that, roughly what does a consultation cost, and do they take international insurance or is cash the norm?

St. Luke's QC, cash first then claim

Worth adding that St. Luke's has a branch in BGC too, closer to where you're staying. Consultations run around 1,500 to 2,500 pesos for a specialist, and yes, you pay upfront then file with your insurer. Bring your policy details and receipts.
