Dating in Sao Paulo 2026: what's it like for a visitor?

Question

I'm staying near Estanplaza Paulista for a couple weeks and honestly curious how dating works here. Do people mostly meet through apps or is there more of a bar and nightlife scene? What surprised you most about dating in Sao Paulo compared to back home?

tino · Answer

The boteco at Bar Léo, happy hour weekdays.

desiree · Answer

apps dominate but the botecos on rua augusta & vila madalena still work, people are way more upfront than i expected

desiree · Answer

only visited but noticed dating is way more group oriented than back home, like you meet someone through friends at a churrasco or a festa first and go out properly after. whatsapp is big for the actual talking. paulistanos also seem fine with slow burns, less of a rush to lock something down week one
