Sao Paulo dating scene 2026 for a foreigner?

The class gap shapes dating way more than apps do, so ask where someone grew up before assuming anything.

yeah that tracks. i'd add that it cuts both ways, someone from Moema and someone from Cidade Tiradentes live in totally different social worlds even if they match on tinder. asking "onde vc mora" early is normal here, not rude.

Apps dominate, but people are warmer in person than you'd expect, so a "oi" at a boteco goes further than in most big cities.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

True, but Paulistanos warm up faster after the second caipirinha.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Depends on the bairro, Pinheiros yes, Itaim no.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair, though i'd say it's less the bairro and more the vibe of the place. a crowded boteco in Vila Madalena at 11pm is way easier for striking up convo than a quiet cafe anywhere. foreigners prob have an easier time too since the accent alone gets curious looks

Agree, though the "oi" lands better at a bar than mid-afternoon cafe.

Staying near Estanplaza Paulista and need to sort a CPF while I'm here. I got as far as booking an appointment but I'm stuck on which documents the Receita Federal actually wants from a visitor. I got as far as booking an appointment but I'm stuck on which documents the Receita Federal actually wants from a visitor. Anyone been through this recently?

the receita federal at república takes a passport copy & your brazilian address, but bring a bill in your name or they'll bounce u

arrow_drop_up 18 arrow_drop_down

passport copy needs to be notarized at a cartório first

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah the bill thing trips ppl up every time
