Bar e Lanchonete Praça da Sé: safe to stop by in 2026?

Question

I'm passing through São Paulo next month and staying near the Sé metro stop. Is Bar e Lanchonete Praça da Sé a decent spot for a quick beer and a bite during the day, or should I stick to places further from the square? Any idea what a simple beer and a sandwich run there in 2026?

marlitt · Answer

the bars right on the square are pretty barebones, fine for a quick chopp during daylight but i'd walk a few blocks toward rua direita or the mercado municipal for something better. expect maybe 25 to 40 reais for a beer and a misto in 2026
