most of the places on soi 3/1 will do the full works with the flaming cotton ball thing for like 300 baht. i go to al-ameen barber near the big mosque, they're thorough and have a proper old-school vibe. just be ready for them to use a cut-throat on your face, it's not a western-style shave with gel and a safety razor

so you can also get your head massaged at some of these places, the guys at the barber on soi 3/1 near the 7-eleven will do a quick shoulder rub after the shave if you're not in a rush. 300 baht for the shave, nose/ears with thread, and the massage. they're open late too, like til 11pm most nights

i'd actually check out the one on soi 3/1 just past the arabic bakery, no name on the window but there's a red barber pole outside. 250 baht for the full face shave plus nose and ear cleanup, and he uses this old-school alum block after the shave that feels amazing. opens around 9am but can get busy friday afternoons after prayers

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
