Any Recommendation for an Attorney to use for a will?

Someone to file and possibly be the executioner of a will and end-of-life document.

If you have had this done, what was the ballpark cost? Thanks

honestly you might want to check with your embassy first before paying a local firm, some embassies have free will templates specific to thai law or can point you to a registered lawyer who speaks your language. the british embassy's list was decent last i checked, but the american one just gives you a generic referral service

if you're set on a local lawyer, try hermes lawyers near ploenchit bts, they quoted me 8k baht for a basic will last year and were good about explaining how thai inheritance tax works for non-residents. just know that if you die without a will here, your assets go to your closest thai relatives first under the civil code, so if you don't have any, the state takes everything eventually

yeah, the executor thing is key - most people don't realize you can just name a trusted friend or relative instead of paying a law firm a percentage. if you go that route, make sure they're okay with the paperwork side of it though, thai probate can be slow. for a straight will without executor duties, try isaan lawyers on silom road, they quoted me 10k baht last year and were pretty straightforward about what goes where. bring copies of any marriage certificates too if applicable, that changes how assets get split under thai law

another option is siam legal, they've got an office near asok and handle this stuff for foreigners all the time. i paid about 12,000 baht a couple years back for a will and power of attorney, no executor fee since i named a family member instead. just make sure you have your passport and any property docs ready when you go

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
