Hi, please excuse the basic question

Looking at getting the Chao Phraya Express Boat Service up to Chitbeer. The closest stop is Wat Klang Kret, but it is the other side of the river.

Putting in walking directions to Google, it seems to want me to swim across. How would we get across? Are there people with boats who'll take us across? There doesn't look to be many bridges

You're right that there aren't many bridges in that area, but the ferries are actually your best bet. The pier at Wat Klang Kret has a regular crossing that runs from about 6am to 8pm, and it's only 4 baht per person. Just walk down to the water's edge near the temple and you'll see the longtail boats waiting, they leave when they have about 8-10 people. If you're heading to Chit Beer specifically, the ferry drops you right at the Nonthaburi side where it's a short walk to the brewery.

honestly just use the little passenger ferries, they're everywhere along the river and super cheap. at wat klang kret there's a specific one that runs to the nonthaburi side, costs 4 baht and takes maybe 2 minutes. if u miss it just wait a few mins, they come pretty regular until like 7pm or so

also worth noting that chit beer is actually on the nonthaburi side where the ferry drops u, not the wat klang kret side. so u take the bts to saphan taksin, get the express boat up to wat klang kret, then cross on the ferry and walk like 10 mins. the brewery is on soi wat klang kret, easy to find once u cross

The Wat Klang Kret ferry crossing is actually one of the more scenic ones on the river since it's further north and less busy than the inner city routes. You'll see the longtail boats pulled up on the muddy bank right next to the temple, just walk down and someone will wave you on. The fare is 4 baht and they run every 10-15 minutes until about sunset. Once you cross, Chit Beer is about a 10 minute walk straight up Soi Wat Klang Kret, you'll smell the hops before you see the place.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
