Might need to move to BKK this year. Well, not moving but more like, running away from a civil war.

Before I go on to browse properties websites, any suggestions on a good neighborhood for asian expat family to live in? Close to int school, hospital and affordable houses, etc.

Thanks.

honestly depends on your budget but if you're looking for family-friendly with easy access to international schools and hospitals, check out the area around On Nut or Bang Na. On Nut has BTS access, decent houses for rent around 30-50k baht, and a bunch of international schools like St Andrews and Bangkok Prep within a short drive. Bang Na's a bit farther out but you get more space for your money and the new Mega Bangna area has everything you need.

if you're running from a war i'll assume you want peace and quiet, so avoid the inner city like Sukhumvit soi 1-22 unless you like noise and traffic. Thonglor's nice but way overpriced for a family house.

depends what kind of war you're escaping but if you want proper quiet and green, check out the area around rama 9 near the new chinese embassy or huai khwang. houses with gardens are still a thing there, 4-bedroom ones go for 20-30k if you look around the smaller sois. no bts but the orange line is coming, and bangkok hospital is 10 mins away. international schools are sparse though, you'd be driving to shrewsbury or kent college.

fwiw i'd look at Nonthaburi or Pak Kret if you want affordable houses with actual yards. lots of expat families there, you get bangkok patana school nearby and a few decent hospitals like nonthavej. just a longer commute if you work in central bkk but the purple line helps a bit

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
