Does anyone know how to get an FBI check online ? I emailed the US consulate and they gave me a list of steps that involve mailing in fingerprints and waiting for 12+ weeks.
If you've already got a digital fingerprint scan done, you can submit it directly through the FBI's website using their "eDO" portal. The whole thing costs about $18 and you'll get the results as a PDF in 3-5 business days. Just make sure the fingerprinting place gives you the electronic file in the right format, some of those shops on Sukhumvit only know how to do the physical cards still.
yeah the fbi check process is a pain but u don't have to mail anything from thailand if u do it right. go to the fbi's website and use their electronic fingerprint submission option with a livescan machine - there's a place on sukhumvit soi 22 called "bangkok fingerprinting" that does them for like 1500 baht and they send it digitally. takes about 3-5 business days once the fbi gets the digital prints, way faster than mailing physical cards
I went through this last year and found it less annoying than expected. Instead of going through the consulate's process, just use the FBI's online system with a digital fingerprint scan from one of the certified places here. The one I used was at the US Embassy's American Citizen Services office but they booked up quick, so I ended up at a place on Sathorn Road called "IDScan Bangkok" that cost 1600 baht and emailed me the digital file in 10 minutes. Uploaded it to the FBI site that same afternoon and had the PDF back in four business days.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
