Is a Rabbit card really this complicated to get? Surely I must be mistaken.

Zero issues. I have moved back and went to get a rabbit card because I'm already sick of single ride ticket lines...and the process seems so complicated. I must be missing something.

First I was told the only place you can get it is at a klook kiosk at either the airport or central world. I happened to be at CW so I found the booth after a lot of trouble (not where it is on the map and tucked away) and they said I could buy from them but can't register or use it. Have to take it to Silom or Siam Station to register or activate it and that I need my passport to do so. They also said it was 300 baht just to get.

Is this all accurate? Surely it cannot be! Why can't I just get it from any station? Where at the stations do I register it? Is it really 300 baht? I'm assuming it was my language issue that is leading to this misunderstanding.

The Klook thing is a recent addition and honestly just creates confusion. You can go straight to the BTS ticket office at any station, not just Silom or Siam, and ask for a Rabbit card. They'll issue it on the spot for 200 baht, with 100 baht as a refundable deposit and 100 baht loaded onto the card. Just bring your passport and they'll register it right there, no extra trips needed.

If you're near On Nut or Udom Suk, those stations are usually less crowded and the staff are pretty used to helping tourists sort this out. Once you have it registered, you can also link it to the Rabbit Rewards app to track your balance and top up from your phone, which is handy for avoiding the 7-Eleven queues.

yeah the klook thing is just a marketing collab, ignore it. you can get a rabbit card at literally any bts station ticket counter for 200 baht, not 300. the passport thing is real though, they need it for registration but it's just them typing your name into a tablet, takes maybe 90 seconds. i'd skip siam or silom unless you want a themed card, those stations usually have the long lines. try a smaller station like phrom phong or thong lo, the staff are way less rushed and will walk you through it

the klook thing is such a trap honestly. you can just walk up to the bts ticket counter at basically any station, even udom suk or bang chak, they all do it. 200 baht total, 100 deposit and 100 credit, passport needed for registration but it takes two minutes. the only catch is they might be out of stock at random stations sometimes, chit lom had none last week when i tried. if that happens just try another station or go to siam since it's the main hub and they always have plenty.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
