Hey I'm a solo traveller going to Bangkok for Coldplay 4th feb. Is there anyone going on the same date? Also what would be the best places to make friends.

the coldplay thing is gonna be a huge vibe, you'll meet people just walking around the stadium area before doors open. for actual friend-making though, try the bars on soi rambuttri instead of khao san, it's literally one street over but way less chaotic and people actually sit and talk instead of just getting wasted. there's a place called the clubhouse that's been around forever and always has solo travellers chilling out front, plus it's like 50 baht for a beer so you can stay a while

honestly if you're around the bts line, hit up thong lo for the bars that aren't too loud and people actually talk. there's a small place called "mikkeller bar" on soi 55 that gets a decent pre-concert crowd without the khao san chaos. also worth checking the "bangkok massive" facebook group, they organize meetups for events like this all the time. the 4th feb date is gonna be packed so you'll find people easily enough

honestly the coldplay crowd is gonna be massive so you'll find people easily enough. if you wanna pre-game before the show, head to ratchaprasong area near the stadium, there's a bunch of rooftop bars with views of the city and the crowd energy. i like the one at centralworld, it's called red sky, bit pricey but worth it for the atmosphere

for making friends outside the concert, skip khao san unless you want the full backpacker chaos. try sukhumvit soi 11 for a mix of bars and clubs, or the old town area around banglamphu for chill riverside spots. thai people are pretty friendly if you just start a conversation at a bar, especially if you mention you're there for coldplay

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
