Anyone know of a shop where I can pick up some essentials I need for motorbike maintenance?

(Preferably within easy reach of Asok.)

I recall that many years ago the big shops like Robinson's had a car section, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

I need oil, brake fluid, brake cleaner, grease and a small socket set.

(I am familiar with Lazada et.c., but it would be nice to go somewhere and browse.)

yeah autobacs is solid but for motorbike stuff specifically i'd hit up the shops along petchaburi soi 15/1. it's a whole stretch of parts shops, tons of small mom & pop places that know bikes better than the big chains. walkable from asok, maybe 10-15 min. grab a 4 liter bottle of castrol power 1 for like 400 baht there. the socket sets are cheap too, just check they're not too flimsy

if you're in asok, just walk over to the sukhumvit soi 19 end and take the 2-minute walk to motorcycle lane on soi 22 - that whole stretch has a bunch of mom-and-pop shops that sell oil and basic tools way cheaper than any mall. i usually grab shell oil and cheap brake fluid from the shop next to the 7-11 there, and they've got those cheap socket sets for like 200 baht. just prepare to haggle a bit and check the oil isn't counterfeit, the fake stuff is common

for motorbike stuff near asok, just go to the shop called "pattanakit" on sukhumvit 33/1, it's a tiny place but they stock all the basics like castrol oil and dot4 brake fluid. they also have a rack of cheap tools, i bought a socket set there for like 300 baht last year. it's a 10 minute walk from phrom phong bts if u cut through the soi

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
