Apprantice tattoo artist in Bangkok?

Anyone knows any good and cheap apprantice tattoo artist in Bangkok? Not looking for «a piece of art» tattoo, more like fine lines and smal figures Anyone knows any good and cheap apprantice tattoo artist in Bangkok? Not looking for «a piece of art» tattoo, more like fine lines and smal figures

Another route is checking out the tattoo conventions that pop up a few times a year in Bangkok, usually at venues like CentralWorld or BITEC Bang Na. Apprentices often tag along with their shops to get practice pieces done at a fraction of their studio rate, sometimes 500 to 800 baht for something small and fine line. You can browse their flash books there and book a slot on the spot, plus you can watch them work on others first which is a big advantage. Just be aware that convention days are chaotic, so they might rush a bit more than in a studio setting.

fwiw i'd skip the instagram hunt and just walk into a shop near chula or siam square, lots of student-area spots have apprentices taking bookings for like 800-1200 baht. they're less flashy but they do way more fine line stuff because that's what the uni crowd asks for. check the walls for their flash sheets, if they've got dainty little animals or geometric shapes, ur in the right place. one thing nobody mentions is to ask for their shop's aftercare routine, apprentices sometimes skip the proper wrapping and that's where infections happen. also tip them a bit extra if they do a good job, it gets u priority next time.

honestly for fine line stuff u dont need a big name shop. check out bangkok tattoo studios around ari or ekkamai, some of the younger artists there do walk-ins for like 1500-2500 baht for small pieces. the ones on instagram with flash sheets are ur best bet, theyre usually apprentices trying to build a portfolio so theyre cheap but careful. just avoid khao san road, that's tourist trap pricing for terrible linework. look up "fine line bangkok" on ig and dm a few, most reply within a day.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
