Hi guys,

Been in Bangkok for a few months and I've been thrifting and shopping but am running out of basic clothing like white and black shirts and undershirts. Whenever I try to go to the regular malls they're a bit overpriced or don't fit, so m wondering if there's a place to just get cheap basic essential wear?

if you're near on nut, the tesco lotus express on sukhumvit 50 has a little clothing section in the back that's easy to miss. plain black and white tees for like 80 baht, and they actually have a decent range of sizes since it's not a market stall. also uniqlo's basic line is alright imo but only catch their sales, they do those multi-buy deals sometimes where it's 2 for 400 baht which is decent for the fit

pratunam is the move for this, specifically the indoor wholesale markets not the street stalls. there's a building called pratunam center and the upper floors have whole shops selling nothing but packs of 5 or 10 plain tees for like 300-400 baht total. sizing is decent for taller guys too since they export a lot of stock

if u just want plain basics without haggling, try Big C extra on Rama 4. they've got a whole clothing section with packs of fruit of the loom knockoffs for like 200 baht for 3 shirts. not the nicest quality but fine for undershirts. for boys stuff the lotus near bang kapi has cheap packs too, just check the fabric cause some of it feels like sandpaper

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
