What time do people "go out" to Party in Thailand?

But things have been back to normal for a while so curious to know how things have changed.

Pretty general question with answers likely to vary a lot but would love to hear from you all what time people in Thailand start their night out?

Cheers, Dave

depends on the neighborhood tbh. if you're in ekkamai or thonglor most places don't even open doors until 10 or 11 and the real crowd rolls in around midnight. but if you're doing sukhumvit soi 11 like levels or above eleven, people start trickling in around 9 and it's decent by 10:30. also worth noting that thai parties often run way later than western ones, like 4am is normal closing time and some places go til 6 or 7. so that 10pm rule from back home will have you waiting around bored for hours at the wrong spot

honestly that 10pm rule doesn't really apply here unless you're doing the full moon party circuit. most thai people i know don't even leave their house until 11 or midnight for a normal night out. if you're going to a club like sing sing theater or beam on sukhumvit 11, showing up before 11:30 means you'll be one of maybe 10 people there and the music won't be loud yet. the pregame culture here is strong too, people hang out at a bar or eat street food first, then roll into the club around 1am when it's actually popping

the curfew thing is long gone so don't worry about that. for the khao san / backpacker strip yeah people start early around 9-10 cause drinks are cheap and it's the vibe. but if you're hitting places like sing sing theater or beam on sukhumvit, nobody shows up before midnight and it goes til 4-5am. also check if there's a concert or festival on, those nights everything shifts earlier by an hour or two

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
