New Year's Eve countdown party at Iconsiam - Is it free and accessible for everyone? Or do I have to buy a ticket? I cannot find anything online

. .
arrow_drop_up 2519 arrow_drop_down

i think it's free to just show up but honestly the whole iconsiam area turns into a total gridlock by late afternoon. if you're set on going, take the bts to saphan taksin and hop on the free shuttle boat, it's way faster than dealing with gold line crowds. just be ready to walk a bit from the pier

The main area is free to enter, no ticket needed. What people don't mention is that the BTS Gold Line usually runs extended hours until around 2am on NYE, so you're not completely stranded. If you want to avoid the crush at the main stage, the walkway along the river near the Khlong San side has a decent view of the fireworks without being in the middle of the crowd. Just bring water and a small fan, it gets stuffy even in December.

it's free to get into the main area but just know that getting out after midnight is a nightmare, the bts and taxis are swamped for hours. if you're okay walking a bit, head to the sathorn side or grab a drink at one of the rooftop bars nearby like octave to watch the fireworks from above, less chaos. the mrt is usually less crowded than the bts if you use the sanam chai station instead

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
