Where do you go to buy gold bars in bkk?

arrow_drop_up 2484 arrow_drop_down

head down to yaowarat road in chinatown, that's the gold district basically. hua seng heng is the most well-known, they have a legit shop near the yaowarat intersection and the prices are posted clearly on the board outside. if you want a smaller operation with less queue try tang to kang gold shop just a few blocks away, same area but way less tourist traffic

honestly yaowarat is the obvious answer but if you're buying serious weight, like actual investment bars not just jewelry, check out the shops on charoen krung road just off yaowarat. the mae sri gold shop there deals more with wholesale bars and the spread is tighter. also the thai gold standard is 96.5% purity which is different from the 24k you get elsewhere, just so you know

the thai gold traders association website posts the daily buy/sell prices so you can check before you head out. also if you're buying bars not jewelry most shops will give you a better rate if you ask for "baht gold" since that's the standard weight unit. just keep in mind the purity difference like someone said, 96.5% not 24k, so if you're trying to resell internationally you might lose a bit on the refiner's cut later

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
