Where is the best ramen when you try it the first time?

arrow_drop_up 2594 arrow_drop_down

the one in ekkamai that people call kagurazaka saryo is actually a solid pick but for a first timer i'd say go to a place called oka ramen on sukhumvit 49. it's a tiny spot run by this japanese guy who makes his noodles on site and the shoyu ramen is just pure clean chicken broth with a soy tare that doesn't hit you over the head. plus they have a lunch set that comes with gyoza for like 280 baht which is a steal for that area

for a first timer i'd say check out bar de nood in ekkamai, it's this tiny spot run by a japanese chef who does a mean shio ramen with a clear broth that's almost like a really good soup, not heavy at all. the place has like 8 seats so you get that proper ramen counter vibe without the pressure of a huge menu

if you're near siam square, try menya kokoro for their dry tantanmen. it's a different take on ramen, no broth but the sauce coats the noodles perfectly with that spicy sesame flavor. first timers might not expect a "brothless" ramen but it's honestly a great intro to how diverse the dish can be

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
