Saturdays after 11am are rough, so go at opening. The combo only pays off if each kid does five or more rides. Otherwise buy the pay-per-ride card at the gate, it's cheaper for younger kids who tire out fast.

yeah the food stalls inside are a ripoff, pack water

combo also skips the ticket queue at the gate

Nine is the real cutoff, by ten the lot's full.

honestly even 9 is cutting it close on holiday weekends, the overflow lot by the mooban gate backs up way before that

Five rides is optimistic with a seven year old, mine managed three before the heat won, so the card was the smarter buy.

Agreed on the card for younger kids. One thing you missed is the parking, the lot off Ramkhamhaeng fills by about 9:30 so aim to arrive before that or you'll be circling. Also the gate card is refundable for unused rides if you keep the receipt.

Worth adding the rides close during the midday heat, so the five ride math only works if you start early and pace yourselves.

Check the weather first, a bit of rain shuts the outdoor rides and you're stuck with nothing to do. Also bring a change of clothes for the kids, the water play area soaks them through.

The real killer is the afternoon thunderstorm around 3pm, so plan the water play for midday and leave after lunch.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
