Roastery No. 7 is solid but honestly overpriced for what it is, 180 baht lattes add up fast. I'd walk 5 min to Roots on Soi 23 instead, they roast in-house and the batch brew is like 90. If you want to sit and work, Ceresia on Sukhumvit 33 is quieter and less crowded on weekday mornings. Both beat the tourist queue at No. 7 tbh.

fair on the price but the queue thing depends on timing, i go around 8am on weekdays and its dead. if ur near there anyway try Brave on Soi 11 for the cold brew, small spot but they nail it every time

Ploenchit branch, 7.30 weekdays, same quiet window.

yeah the prices add up quick, tho imo Phil Coffee on Sukhumvit 37 is teh sleeper pick nearby.

Pacamara on Sukhumvit 31, opens 7

the 7am open is handy if u want coffee before work crowds hit. heads up tho the soi 31 branch gets packed with laptops by 9, so go early or hit the one in EmQuartier instead. their thai beans rotate too so ask what's fresh.

Ceresia's card minimum is 200, worth knowing.

Batch brew at 90 is the move there, though their food menu is weak so eat before you go.

Try Kaizen on Sukhumvit 49, tiny spot, they pull a proper flat white for around 100 and it's quiet before 10.

Good call on the quiet timing, though the soi entrance is easy to miss, it's tucked past the 7-Eleven on the left. Their beans rotate weekly so ask what's on the hopper before you order. Cash only, no card.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
