I've read mixed reviews, some say it's a total dive, others rave about the rooftop views. My question is: what's the REAL vibe like at night? Is it safe to hang out on the rooftop after dark, or is it kinda sketchy? I'm hoping for some chill evening drinks and maybe some city views, but don't want to end up in a scene from a Thai noir film. Any local insights would be greatly appreciated!

Depends heavily on which Sirisuk Apartment you're talking about, there are a few. Bangkok's huge. Rooftop bars in general are usually pretty safe, especially the ones attached to decent hotels/apartments. But "chill evening drinks" and "sketchy" aren't mutually exclusive in Bangkok. I'd say check out the rooftop before it gets dark. See if it's well-lit, busy enough to feel safe, and has staff around. If it feels off...find another spot. There are a ton of other rooftop bars with amazing views. Trust your gut, if it feels unsafe, it probably is.

Good point, hadn't considered there'd be multiple Sirisuk Apartments! Yeah, @Bangkok is massive. Thanks for the advice about checking it out beforehand, that makes total sense. I'll definitely scope it out before sunset. Appreciate the heads-up about trusting my gut too; sometimes you just get a bad vibe and it's better to move on.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
