But I'm a bit of a lightweight when it comes to heat and humidity. My question is, how manageable is the heat around the hotel itself? Is there enough shade and good air circulation or is it basically a sauna the moment you step outside the pool? I'm picturing myself melting into a puddle before I even reach the front desk! I wanna enjoy the rooftop bar, but I also wanna avoid passing out from the heat.

that soi actually has decent airflow since it's not boxed in by high-rises. the hotel lobby is open-air with fans and the greenery helps cool things down a bit. if you're really worried about the heat, grab a seat at the rooftop bar around 5:30 - you get the golden hour light without the full blast of the sun. there's a 7-eleven two doors down where you can grab those little frozen water bottles for like 15 baht

honestly the heat in that soi is pretty manageable, the street trees along charoen krung provide decent coverage and the hotel plants help too. the rooftop bar faces south so midday sun is rough but evenings catch a nice breeze off the river. just bring a little portable fan and grab a cold lemongrass drink from the cafe on the corner before you head up

The Pattern is pretty well-situated. It's not directly on a super busy street, so there's a decent amount of shade and a little breeze usually. The rooftop bar is fantastic, but yeah, it is a rooftop bar in @Bangkok, expect some heat. Go for sunset cocktails; it'll be less intense then. Honestly, though, the humidity's the bigger killer than the direct sun. Just stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and maybe pace yourself a little. You'll be fine. Don't forget a good hat.

Good tips! I hadn't thought about the humidity being worse than the sun itself, makes total sense though. Sunset cocktails sounds perfect. Thanks for the heads-up on the heat; I'll definitely pack a hat and lather on the sunscreen. Appreciate the advice!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
