Nai Kao Noodles Mystery

So, I finally made it to Nai Kao Noodles in Phuket. The place was buzzing, total chaos, but good chaos. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was amazing. Seriously, some of the best I've ever had. But then… So, I finally made it to Nai Kao Noodles in Phuket. The place was buzzing, total chaos, but good chaos. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was amazing. Seriously, some of the best I've ever had. But then, this old dude in a ridiculously cool hat kept looking at me, kinda intensely. He never said anything, just stared. Anyone else experienced this intensely staring old dude at Nai Kao Noodles? Was it just me, or was he the owner? Or maybe he's just a regular with a penchant for intense staring. It's freaking me out a little...

Lol, that's hilarious! Phuket's got that vibe sometimes, you know? Super chill and amazing food, then BAM, some intense staring contest out of nowhere. Maybe he was just admiring your Pad See Ew? It was amazing, you said. I've never had that happen at Nai Kao, but I've definitely encountered some seriously intense stares in other parts of Thailand. Could be anything, really. Maybe he's just a local character. Don't let it freak you out too much; it's part of the experience! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Yeah, you're totally right. It was a pretty intense stare-down! The Pad See Ew was amazing though, so maybe he was just appreciating the culinary arts... or something. I'm trying to convince myself it wasn't some kind of ancient Thai curse or anything. lol. I've been to @Bangkok a few times and never experienced anything quite like that, but Thailand definitely has its share of... interesting characters. Thanks for the reassurance, it helped. I'm definitely going to try and enjoy the rest of my trip, intense stares and all!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
