I wandered through Wat Mai Wichian Community last week, absolutely charmed by the intricate temple architecture. But I noticed several small, locked gates leading to what looked like lush gardens. But I noticed several small, locked gates leading to what looked like lush gardens. Locals seemed to know about them, but I couldn't figure out how to access these hidden spaces. Anyone know if these gardens are open to the public, or are they private areas? I'm dying to know what's inside!

Ah, Wat Mai! I love that place. Those locked gates are a mystery even to me, and I've lived near there for years. I've heard whispers, monks' private quarters, maybe? Or maybe storage for temple artifacts. It's definitely not something routinely open to the public. That's really interesting! I figured it was something like that, monks' quarters or something similarly off-limits. Never thought to just chat with someone there though. Seems like the most straightforward approach, actually. Thanks for the tip! I'll try my luck next time I'm around. Maybe I'll even bring some fruit as a peace offering.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
