Anyway, I'm worried about the wifi. My job's all remote and I need a solid connection. Anyone been there recently and can tell me how the internet is? Is it fast enough for video calls and stuff? Seriously considering bringing a portable hotspot as a backup... but that's a hassle.

tbh the over stay's wifi is kinda hit or miss depending which floor you're on, lower floors seem better. if you're really worried just grab a ais sim card at the mall, they have those unlimited data packages for like 400 baht and it works way faster than the hotel connection. plus then you can hotspot from your phone

the over stay is a fun spot but yeah the wifi can be flaky, especially if you're on a video call during like 6-9pm when everyone's back from dinner. if you're not into the hotspot idea, just grab an AIS sim from the 7-eleven on Sukhumvit Soi 11, it's like a 5 min walk from the hotel. their 30-day unlimited plan is around 500 baht and I've used it for zoom calls from random cafes with no issues. also the hotel's co-working space on the 2nd floor has ethernet ports if you're lucky enough to snag one

ngl the over stay's wifi is decent enough for slack and email but video calls get choppy around 7pm when everyone's streaming. i'd skip the hotspot and just grab a true move esim from their app, 299 baht for 15gb and you can set it up before you land. also the cafe across the street, Rocket on Sukhumvit Soi 11, has solid wifi and good coffee if you need a backup spot for meetings

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
