I've heard horror stories about the wait times at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, people saying they spent hours just to submit an application. Is this true? Any tips for navigating the process smoothly, or should I just brace myself for a whole day of bureaucratic purgatory?

honestly the embassy's moved to a new spot on sathorn soi 1 near the saint louis hospital, not the old location maps still show. get there by 7am latest, the guard lets people in around 7:30 but the queue forms way earlier. bring a photocopy of everything even if you think its stupid, the shop across the street charges like 5 baht per page but the line there gets long too. the actual processing time varies a lot, i waited 3 hours on a tuesday but my friend went on a friday and was out in 45 minutes. thursdays seem busiest for some reason

Yeah, the horror stories about the Nigerian Embassy in @Bangkok are unfortunately pretty accurate. I wouldn't say everyone spends an entire day there, but expect a significant chunk of your day to vanish. Go early, like ridiculously early. Bring snacks and water. Seriously. Also, double and triple check everything on your application before you even get close to the building. One tiny mistake means starting over. Prepare for crowds, a lot of waiting around, and possibly some... less-than-stellar customer service. Good luck! You'll need it.

I had a renewal there last year and it's not as bad as the stories make it seem if you come prepared. The key thing nobody tells you is to bring a small folder with clear plastic sleeves, they like seeing everything organized and it speeds up the desk check. Also the 7-Eleven on Sathorn Soi 1 has a photocopier that's cheaper than the shop across from the embassy, 2 baht a page and no line. I was in and out in just under two hours on a Tuesday afternoon, not great but not a whole day.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
