So, I'm heading to Thonburi Hospital next week for a procedure. I've heard whispers about a little rooftop garden they have, supposedly, it's amazing for calming pre-op nerves. Or is it just a myth spread by overly enthusiastic nurses? Seriously considering sneaking a potted plant up there if it's not accessible...

If you want a quiet spot that's actually open to everyone, try the small garden on the hospital's 3rd floor balcony near the physical therapy wing. It's nothing fancy, just a few benches and some potted plants, but I've seen patients sitting there reading or just staring at the sky. The rooftop is definitely staff-only and they've got a keycard lock on that door now, so sneaking up there is more trouble than it's worth. Plus the 3rd floor balcony catches a nice breeze in the afternoon and you won't have to worry about anyone asking questions.

The rooftop garden is real but it's mostly for staff and VIP patients. They renovated it a few years back when they expanded the oncology wing. If you're feeling brave, take the elevator near the cafeteria up to floor 8 and follow the signs to the staff lounge. There's a small door with a push bar that opens to the garden. Just act like you belong and no one will bother you. The koi pond in the main lobby is a solid backup, but it gets busy around visiting hours.

I've actually been to Thonburi Hospital a few times, and the rooftop garden is real but it's more of a staff break area than a patient zone. You might be able to get up there if you ask nicely, but don't count on it. The hospital's main lobby has a decent koi pond and some seating near the pharmacy that's usually quieter, that's where I'd go to decompress.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
