Anyone have experience with that year? What are the common issues I should look out for before pulling the trigger? I really need something reliable, and the price seems right, but I don't want to end up with a money pit. This is my first car purchase, so any advice would be great!

2010 Corolla? Solid choice, generally. Your uncle's not wrong; those things are tanks. But a ten-year-old car? Expect something to need attention.

Biggest things to check: rust (especially undercarriage in @Bangkok's humidity), worn suspension components (it'll feel sloppy on turns), and the transmission. Automatic transmissions can be pricey to fix if they go south. Also, get a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic; it's money well spent. Don't skimp on that. Seriously.

Pay close attention to the engine, listen for unusual noises, check the oil for cleanliness and level, and look at the coolant. Leaks are a major problem. A compression test is a good idea too, if your mechanic offers it.

Finally, remember you're buying a used car, ten years old. Even with a good inspection, some minor things will pop up eventually. Budget for that. Factor in maintenance costs, it's not just the purchase price. Good luck!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
