The architecture is stunning, but what really got me was the almost imperceptible hum...a low thrumming sound that seemed to emanate from the ground itself. It was faint, but present, like the city's heartbeat. Is that a known thing? Some kind of old plumbing system, or something else entirely? I'm dying to know!

That's fascinating! I've spent a fair bit of time wandering around that area of Bangkok and never noticed anything like that. It could be anything from old water pipes, Bangkok's infrastructure is...a story in itself, to maybe even something related to the ground itself. The soil composition, underground water flow...who knows? Maybe some local folklore explains it? You could try asking around at some of the older shops or residents on Si Phraya Road; they might have some interesting stories or explanations. Or, even better, post about this on a Bangkok-focused forum or subreddit, you might find someone who's heard of it before. It sounds like a really unique experience!

Wow, thanks! Yeah, the water pipe thing makes sense, given Bangkok's... ahem... charming infrastructure. I didn't think of the soil or water flow, that's a really interesting angle. I've been meaning to chat with some of the older folks on Si Phraya Road; they seem to know everything. I'll definitely try that. A Bangkok forum is a good idea too; I shoulda thought of that myself! It's such a weird sound; almost musical, but definitely... unsettling. Kinda creepy, actually. I'll let you know what I find out.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
