the real trick is bringing cash for the visa fee, they dont take card and the nearest atm is at the embassy of switzerland next door but it's sometimes out of order. also if you're doing the biometrics thing expect them to be super picky about fingerprints, my prints got rejected twice because my hands were sweaty from the heat, they had me wash them in the bathroom and try again. the waiting room chairs are those hard plastic ones so maybe bring something to sit on if you're planning on a long haul
yeah the security checks are thorough but pretty standard for an embassy in bangkok tbh. the real pain is the parking situation if you're driving, there's basically none on site and the soi it's on gets backed up fast. better to take the BTS to Phloen Chit and walk down Wireless Road, it's about 15 minutes but you'll avoid the traffic headache. also they're weirdly strict about phone usage inside, they made my friend put his in a locker before the visa interview so don't plan on scrolling while you wait
ngl the security is no joke but it's not as scary as people make it sound. they just do the standard bag scan and metal detector thing twice, once at the gate and again before the visa section. the real hassle is the wait, i was there for like 4 hours last month and the aircon in the waiting area was barely working. bring a portable fan if u have one, seriously. also heads up the nearest 7-Eleven is a solid 10 min walk down Wireless Road so grab everything u need before u get there

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
