The food was amazing, seriously some of the best ramen I've had in @Bangkok. But their menu... it's a little cryptic. There are these symbols next to some dishes, and I have NO idea what they mean. The waiter couldn't explain them, either. Anyone know what the little cherry blossom symbol next to the Tori Paitan means? I'm dying to know what's so special about it. Maybe it's a secret menu item?!

cherry blossom symbol is for their "chef's recommendation" line, not seasonal or secret menu. the Tori Paitan gets that mark because they use a specific free-range chicken from a farm in Ratchaburi, not the standard stuff. the broth has a lighter, cleaner taste compared to their other bowls, which is why it stands out. if you want the real off-menu experience, ask for the "gyokai tsukemen" on a weekday afternoon when it's less busy, they'll make it if the ingredients are prepped

ngl i think that cherry blossom just means it's their most popular bowl, not anything secret. the Tori Paitan is literally their bestseller on foodpanda every week, like 50+ orders a day from the Phrom Phong branch alone. if u go during lunch rush you'll see half the tables with that bowl, it's the one that keeps people coming back

yeah i think the cherry blossom just means it's a yayoi original recipe, not something from the standard japanese ramen playbook. the Tori Paitan has this specific blend of two different chicken broths that they developed at their sukhumvit 39 test kitchen a few years back. if you want the real hidden menu stuff, ask for the "miso truffle" off-menu, they'll make it if the head chef is there but it costs like 550 baht

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
