Everyone keeps mentioning this amazing rooftop bar, but the website is... vague. Is the view really as spectacular as they say, or is it mostly just obstructed by other skyscrapers? I'm hoping for some killer sunset shots. I've heard stories about the building's history too, something about it being a significant landmark back in the day. Anyone know any cool facts about the MT&T Building itself, beyond its current tenants? Really hoping to soak in the atmosphere.

The rooftop bar at the MT&T Building? Yeah, the view's pretty incredible, especially at sunset. Don't let the website fool ya, it's seriously stunning. Plenty of space to get those killer shots, although you might have to jostle for position a bit during peak hours.

As for the building's history... it's a bit of a local legend, actually. Used to be the tallest building in @Bangkok for a long time, a real symbol of the city's growth back in the day. I've heard whispers of some pretty wild parties happening there during its heyday, but that's just old wives' tales, probably. Worth looking up some old photos online though, that might give you a better idea of its past glory.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
